Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport – Transfer to Karatu
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be welcomed by our safari representative and professional driver-guide. After a short briefing, you will begin your drive toward Karatu, located near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The journey offers beautiful views of northern Tanzania’s countryside, local villages, farms, and the Great Rift Valley landscape. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Karatu – Ndutu Region via Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, depart for the Ndutu region via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The drive takes you through scenic highlands, Maasai landscapes, and open plains before reaching one of the most important areas for the wildebeest calving season.
During this period, Ndutu is known for large wildebeest and zebra herds, newborn calves, and strong predator activity. Lions, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, and other predators are often seen following the movement of the herds. Continue with game viewing en route before arriving at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Full-Day Game Drive in Ndutu and Southern Serengeti Plains
After breakfast, depart with packed lunch boxes for a full-day game drive across the Ndutu region and nearby southern Serengeti plains. This area is especially rewarding during the calving season, when the migration herds gather on the nutrient-rich short grass plains.
Your guide will follow wildlife movement and recent sightings to maximize your chances of seeing newborn wildebeest calves, large herds, cheetahs on the plains, lions near woodland areas, and dramatic predator-prey interactions. In the evening, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Ndutu – Ngorongoro Crater Safari
After breakfast, depart Ndutu and drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Upon arrival, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive on the crater floor.
The crater is one of Tanzania’s most rewarding wildlife destinations, with a high concentration of animals throughout the year. You may see lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, zebras, wildebeests, hyenas, jackals, and, with luck, the rare black rhino. Later in the afternoon, ascend the crater walls and continue to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Ngorongoro – Arusha – Kilimanjaro International Airport
After breakfast, depart from Ngorongoro and drive back toward Arusha. You will enjoy lunch en route or in Arusha, depending on your flight schedule.
After lunch, continue to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight. This marks the end of your 5-day Ndutu Calving Season Safari.
